Irreparable Harm (Sasha McCandless Legal Thriller No. 1) [Kindle Edition]

Format:Kindle Edition
Irreparable Harm by Melissa F. Miller is a fast paced riveting
page-turner! I couldn't put it down and it consumed my entire weekend until I finished the very last page! The storyline is believable and full of suspense! I fell in love with the characters and am hoping she brings them back in another story. Melissa F. Miller has incredible talent as a writer and her knowledge of the legal system is very thorough. I am really looking forward to her next book.

Death on a High Floor: A Legal Thriller [Paperback]

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Chuck Rosenberg's first novel is a treat to delve into. At first there maybe a feeling that it is just one more murder mystery, but as the plot unfolds, you begin to realize that the author, himself a lawyer, has written about a profession that he knows well and has practiced for many years in LA. From this background, the murder plot unfolds in unexpected ways, and draws the reader deeper and deeper into intrigues within a law firm that has evolved from an well established firm in Los Angeles to become a massive corporate entity with offices across the globe. But, almost all of the action is centered within the urban environment of downtown LA and its surrounding, freeway linked environs. Rosenberg speaks with authority about the legal process in criminal law that unfolds in this murder case, with intimate professional relationships and friendships thrown asunder. There are many, interwoven levels to the plot with historical insights into the world of coin collecting, the hierarchal politics of the legal profession, the lifestyle of a loner practicing criminal law in his eccentric way, and the hyperbole and insanity of the media and bloggers who hang on every word of real or imagined evidence as the case unfolds. The accused, himself a respected member of the firm and his community, falls from corporate grace into that of a shunned 'has been' who has to face his own reality, one that he has long ignored, and what it also means to become his own victim in a crime that tests the highs and lows of his well being.

The book is more than an airplane read, as it is well written, and carries you along to a conclusion that is somewhat expected, yet not, as the absence of 'cheap sex', so often prevalent in murder mysteries is lacking and this in itself provides a refreshing change from the normal genre. I will read it again and recommend it to those who like suspense sprinkled with a strong touch of reality.

No Time To Run (Legal Thriller Featuring Michael Collins, Book 1)

Format:Kindle Edition
While most people will fall in love with Michael Collins (he's a smart, sexy, save-the-day kind of guy with the 'damaged bad boy' thing going on that is irresistible in a beach-read like this), I just have to put a word in for his side-kick, Kermit Guillardo. Kermit is a Vietnam Vet who is just so crazy, that you begin to think that he's an actual person - who could make this kind of stuff up? From his bad breath beach-bum self in the opening scene, to trying to be Michael's legal assistant in New York City, Kermit is a loyal, funny, far out character, just waiting to be played by Morgan Freeman. (Matt Damon as Collins, of course.) The big city law factory is eerily accurate, and the surprise ending will thrill every disheartened lawyer who wishes she had the courage to do the same as Michael Collins. Grab a margarita, and enjoy!

Legal, Ethical, and Political Issues in Nursing [Paperback]

Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I used this book for my Ethics class while completing my Masters of Science in Nursing degree. It is a great text book, informative, very easy reading, and not at all boring. Imagine actually enjoying reading about legal, ethical, and political issues; I did. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in the subjects represented. It definitely contains great information and is surprisingly understandable without all the fancy terminology that tends to make some books dealing with legal issues difficult to comprehend. I believe that a good book should be easy for anyone to read and comprehend without having to consult a dictionary every few sentences. Although this book is not simple it meets my criteria for a good book. I did not need the dictionary even once.
